Karin Crona (1968) is a Swedish artist based in Paris since 1999. Trained at Konstfack in Stockholm, she develops a practice informed by automatic writing, vernacular archives, and auteur cinema. Working across collage, photography, drawing, and artificial intelligence, she explores the relationships between archives, fiction, and representations of the feminine.
Since 2017, she has been collecting and studying Pénéla, the first French women’s library magazine published between 1967 and 1973. From these archives, she creates photocollages, artist books, and installations that reflect on the representation of women and the transformation of images.
Selected exhibitions and participations include Circulation(s) (Le Centquatre, Paris), Institut suédois, Biennale d’Issy, Susanne Pettersson Gallery (Stockholm) and OpenBach (Paris), as well as a performance at Jeune Création. She was nominated for the HSBC Prize in 2018.
